Hire a Car in the USA to Join the Holiday Fun.
I write a lot about car hire in the USA, tips to get the best from it, about what insurances are included or comparing different cars in the fleets. This week, I thought I would take a look at some of the seasonal fun you could be having if you hired a car in the USA for your vacation.
The theme parks provide regular spooky themed events on many nights throughout October and so many more people can join in the fun if they want to than if it was just confined to one night.
Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights are becoming legendary at both Universal Orlando, Florida and Universal Hollywood, California. This year is no exception with Zombies, and scare zones inspired by Alice Cooper (Hollywood) Penn and Teller (Florida) and many more. Halloween Horror Nights are separately ticked events taking place each weekend until Halloween.
At the other end of the scale, Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party at Walt Disney World, Florida is exactly that, not scary and suitable for children. Once again, it is a separately ticketed event at the end of normal park hours. The party, parade and fireworks gives all the family the chance to dress up, and trick or treat their way around the park. Mickey’s Halloween Party at Disneyland, California is equally child friendly with the chance to meet and greet villains, and watch a spectacular water show with colours, lasers, characters and explosions!
SeaWorld is also in on the fun with Halloween Spooktacular taking place at the parks in Orlando, San Diego and San Antonio. The fun varies from family friendly shows, Halloween makeovers of existing marine life shows, to trick or treating all around the parks. SeaWorld Antonio also has Howl-O-Scream, on a slightly smaller scale than the Busch Gardens events.
Howl-O-Scream, at Busch Gardens Tampa and Busch Gardens Williamsburg is a very popular separately ticketed event , where those who would be spooked, can test their nerve by entering the Garden Gates to the Dark Side beyond!
Six Flags theme parks around America have Fright Fest, with Fearful Frights, Monstertainment and Spine Chilling Adventures, definitely just for adults! Six Flags has parks in Montreal, Lake George, Springfield, New Jersey, Baltimore, Atlanta, Chicago, St Louis, Dallas, San Antonio, LA and San Francisco.
Cedar Point, Sandusky, Ohio, has Hallo-Weekends, where the scares come both child sized in the day, or monstrously scary at night. Cedar Point has 13 roller coasters, with another due to open in 2013, so if you can brave those, I am sure the ghouls will be no problem!
If you don’t fancy heading on over to a theme park, then maybe New York City’s Village Halloween Parade could be for you. This annual event attracts more than 2 million viewers and over 50,000 participants. Anyone with a costume can join in as long as you join from the beginning. The parade starts at 7 pm on Wednesday 31st October and stretches from Spring Street to 16th Street.
Great ideas for Halloween – wish we were in the US! 🙂
Me too! The US certainly own this holiday!
