Las Vegas is a massive playground for tourists. Synonymous with hotel casinos and neon lights, there is plenty to do here for all the family – whatever the age.
Top Attractions in Las Vegas
Theme Parks
For families of all ages, Wet ‘n’ Wild fits the bill when you want to cool down. This water park features 25 slides (of varying degrees from vertical) and attractions including the 400,000 gallon Red Rock Bay wave pool. The New York – New York hotel-casino has The Roller Coaster, offering drops and multiple loops, surrounded by the Statue of Liberty, New York Harbor and popular buildings from Manhattan. The Adventuredome at Circus Circus hotel-casino is America’s largest indoor theme park, covering 5.5 acres. You can play laser tag, bumper cars, mini golf, experience the 4 G Force of the Sling Shot or ride the Canyon Blaster coaster.
Red Rock Canyon
Red Rock Canyon is a sculpturally beautiful Natural Conservation Area just 17 miles from the bright neon lights of Las Vegas and The Strip. You can take a 13 mile scenic drive around the Canyon, which boasts some of the best natural exhibits of the Mojave dessert in the way of geology, flora and fauna. This is certainly a good reason to hire a car whilst on holiday here, because it will enable you to really experience a bit more of Nevada! As well as the scenic tour, the more energetic visitors can hike, cycle or even horse-ride in the dessert!
The Mob Museum
For something completely different, how about The Mob Museum? A history of the perennial fight between the upholders of the law, and those that seek to circumvent it. Housed in the former Federal Courthouse at 300 Stewart Avenue in downtown Las Vegas, this building has seen more than its fair share of mobsters and law enforcement officers so it makes a perfect backdrop to the contents of the museum. Fans of the wonderful Boardwalk Empire television series can indulge in a deeper knowledge of mobster Al Capone, and mob-buster J. Edgar Hoover. One of the exhibits is the actual wall from the St Valentines Day Massacre.
Driving The Strip
The Las Vegas Strip is just over 4 miles long and is actually called Las Vegas Boulevard. The Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign pictured above is actually 4.5 miles outside of the Las Vegas city limits, and the ‘Strip’ itself is outside of the downtown area. The world famous stretch of asphalt is lined on either side by super hotels, casinos, and the most stunning architecture, and whilst you can ride up and down on a bus to see the sights – why not hire a car and drive it yourself, treat yourself, you’re in Vegas!
