To help your trip
If you are under 25 and need our Young Driver Car Hire Package, please be sure to search only the Alamo locations unless you are searching for airports – otherwise, you will not see any cars!
There are no one-way fees within the state of Florida so you can easily collect a car from one of the downtown locations and return it to the airport, as long as you don’t require a particularly large car.
We have travelled with young children, elderly parents and a combination of both, so if you need any help in choosing the right category of car, or working out which supplier will best suit your needs, please don’t hesitate to call or email or use the chat facility, that is what we are here for and we love to help you.
We look forward to your call.
Every year Orlando, Florida, welcomes over 50 million visitors – the most of any city in the USA. Of these, nearly 4 million are international travellers, with nearly 1.5 million coming from Europe. Now, we don’t arrange Orlando car hire for all of these people (yet!), but Orlando is most certainly the most frequently booked destination of our clients.
Places to Visit
Walt Disney World
The most ‘Magical Place On Earth’ has four separate parks in Florida; The Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom. The Magic Kingdom is the first and still the best park, and for children from 1 – 90, it is the most wonderful place on earth. All the cuddly characters, combined with a pristine environment and customer service like you have never experienced anywhere else, make this park is the premier theme park destination in the world. Older children and teens will like Epcot with its interactive science based exhibits and the fast-paced Test-Track attraction. Animal Kingdom is a very big park spread over many acres, home to masses of animals (what else!) from around the world and exciting attractions like the immersive roller coaster Expedition Everest.
Universal Orlando
Comprising two theme parks and an evening entertainment centre, a trip to Universal is a must – particularly for older children and teens. Universal Studios has the brand new Transformers -The Ride 3D, Shrek 4D and the classic Blues Brothers. Islands of Adventure is home to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter which is a must see area of the park. In the evenings, Universal CityWalk comes alive with dining, shopping and entertainment – without requiring entry to either park.
SeaWorld
Home to Shamu and the rest of the killer whale family, SeaWorld is a much loved favourite destination for an ‘easy’ park day. But don’t be fooled, with its Manta and Kraken roller coasters, the thrill seekers can most certainly be satisfied between interacting with dolphins and rays. A personal favourite is Journey to Atlantis – we usually ride this more than once in quiet periods. Keep a quarter or two handy for the lockers at the rides – it is non-refundable so you may need more than one!
But please, also consider state parks, where you can have a relaxing, chilled out day for literally a $8 admission for your car. Take a picnic, lounge by or swim in crystal clear – cool water fresh from the Florida Aquifer (like the river below), watch manatees if you are at a park close to the coast, kayak on rivers – there is so much fun to be had away from the parks.
Dining
There are also some stunning restaurants in the Orlando area, from the family-friendly chains such as Olive Garden, Outback Steakhouse, Red Lobster, and Carrabas Italian Grill, through to one of a kind restaurants like Raga (for Indian cuisine that cannot be beaten) on what is known locally as restaurant row – along Sand Lake Road west of Interstate 4. If you are in the market for a cheap, all-you-can-eat breakfast before a day in the theme parks, then you also have plenty of choices, try Golden Corral, Ponderosa or Sizzler.
To hire a car in Orlando really could not be easier. The two most obvious car hire locations are at Orlando International Airport and Orlando-Sanford Airport, which is about 20-30 minutes away from the main airport. Orlando International has the largest car hire operation in the world and the depots there serve as central hubs for companies like Alamo, Dollar, Hertz etc. The main fleet is held there, along with all the large cars such as 8 seat SUV’s or 15 seat minivans, the sort of vehicles that you cannot hire from your local hotel or downtown car rental depot.
