US Car Hire With No Deposit

US Car Hire With No Deposit.

Here at The Car Hire Team we are very happy to offer our clients US car hire with no deposit for reservations more than 8 weeks ahead of travel.  While this is not currently available as an automatic facility via our website, it is as simple as dropping us an email.

Please use our website to check for the car, supplier and package that you want, and then jot that down on an email. Please included the name of the lead driver (and their age), where and when (exact times please) you will be collecting the car, where and when you will be returning your car and your arrival flight number if you have it. That is all the information that we require to reserve your hire car in the USA. To help us on the administrative side we will also need your billing address and a contact number. If you want any additional items like a Sat Nav unit, please also cost that out and let us know so we can add it to the reservation for you.

Driving Licences for Car Hire in the USA

Tips on driving in USA and renting a car with a UK driving licence

To hire a car in the USA you need a full, valid driving licence from your country of residence (but not USA or Canada). Some car hire companies require that you have held your full licence for at least one year. But not all make this distinction – please see the checklist below. For UK drivers heading to the USA, we understand that nothing will change with regard to UK driving licences and that in other English speaking countries you will not be required to hold an IDP following Brexit. For drivers heading to Europe please click here

NB: If you have a driving ban in your home country you cannot hire a car in the USA

Car rental shuttles to cruise ports – part 1 – Florida

Tourists hiring a car for part of their holiday before or after taking a cruise will need to get from the port to the rental car location or vice versa, as easily as possible. Because space at cruise ports is at a premium car rental depots tend to use a nearby facility to service cruise arrivals and departures. For this a complimentary shuttle is usually, but not always, provided. Continue reading

Mount Dora on a Spring Day

For one reason or another, until our last trip to Florida this spring we had never visited Mount Dora!  Sadly the train is no longer working (we didn’t get to Cypress Gardens before it closed either – or for that matter Splendid China and we drive past that every day when in Florida) but there is so much here to make it worth getting in the car. Continue reading

Rainbow Springs State Park

Rainbow Springs is the fourth largest spring in Florida and is the head of the Rainbow river at Dunnellon, just off U.S. 41.

Of all the springs we have been to, this is the most beautiful, in a chocolate box way. The water is the clearest we have seen and appears a vibrant blue. There is a large grassy picnic area forming a natural amphitheatre to the headsprings, nestled along the tree line at the edge of the grass are picnic tables and grills. Continue reading

Blue Springs State Park

On a beautiful, clear blue Florida morning, we headed up US 417, right on past the exit for Sanford International Airport – for us – uncharted territory. We had chosen the toll road because our destination, Blue Springs State Park, is at Orange City, and we had no wish to fight with Interstate 4 all the way through Orlando. We rejoined I 4 at the end of US 417 for just a couple of junctions before leaving at US 17 – 92 towards Orange City. Continue reading

Vineyard Tours in Florida

Muscadine grapes (or scuppernongs as they are sometimes called) are native to Florida and were first used for wine-making by the French Huguenots and early Spanish settlers nearly 100 years before wine was made in California.  They can grow as big as golf balls and ripen individually rather than in bunches over a period of a few weeks in late August and into September. The grapes are grown at vineyards around Florida where one can visit for free tasting and a tour. Continue reading
