For a family with large teenagers, or party of 5 adults, the Full size category of cars is probably the smallest category that you would want to consider. Luggage room is reasonable, but not necessarily generous so if everyone is planning on taking a suitcase then Premium or even Luxury will be more appropriate! In April 2013 we visited Orlando International Airport to have a look at the Alamo fleet in the B-side garage. The fleet is the same for both the A and B terminal of course, but makes and models vary through the day as cars are returned, cleaned and hired again. As before, we noted the makes and models available whilst we were there, and took a photo to illustrate the available boot space.
On the day we visited we saw:
- Chevrolet Impala LT and LTZ
- Chevrolet Malibu LT
- Mazda 6
- Nissan Altima
- Hyundai Sonata
Once again, when renting a car you book the category, not the car, these are just what was available to us on the day and there are no guarantees what type of cars will be available on your trip. These were the cars available with Alamo, but it is reasonable to conclude that they are typically representative of the size of cars in most fleets. It is also worth noting that at Orlando Airport there is no division for Standard category cars which tend to be thrown into the Full size area.
According to fleet guides, a full size hire car will take 2 large suitcases and 3 small suitcases, below is an example of the full size category, together with its boot space.
