Tourists hiring a car for part of their holiday before or after taking a cruise will need to get from the port to the rental car location or vice versa, as easily as possible. Because space at cruise ports is at a premium car rental depots tend to use a nearby facility to service cruise arrivals and departures. For this a complimentary shuttle is usually, but not always, provided.
In Florida there are four main ports: Port Everglades, Port of Miami, Port Canaveral and Port of Tampa.
Port Everglades
Port Everglades is located between Fort Lauderdale, Hollywood and Dania. The following suppliers provide a shuttle service from their Port locations:
- 1700 Eller Drive – Alamo
- 455 Southeast 24th Street – Hertz
- 2400 Miami Road – Dollar
Port Miami
Miami Airport serves car hire for the port. Alamo, National, Enterprise and Dollar provide a shuttle service between the two. The shuttles leave from the rental car centre at the airport. A monorail provides transport between the rental centre and the airport. Fixed tariffs are also available for taxis and shuttles between the port and Miami Airport or Fort Lauderdale Airport. Other providers are below
- 229 South East 2nd Street – Hertz – with shuttle
- Budget/Avis – 89-99 Se 2nd Street Miami – free shuttle service to/from rental counter (available via offline quote only)
For Dollar, please select this location to book the shuttle: Port Miami, 3900 NW 25th Street- Dollar (with Shuttle)
Port Canaveral
All operators run complimentary shuttles from their own locations:
- 710 Mullet Road – Alamo
- 6799 N Atlantic Ave – Dollar
- 8963 Astronaut Blvd – Hertz
- 8401 Astronaut Blvd – Budget (via offline quote only)
- 6650 N Atlantic Ave – Avis (via offline quote only)
Port of Tampa
Alamo runs a complimentary shuttle from 725 S Harbor Island Blvd, Tampa. Dollar also runs a complimentary shuttle to and from Tampa International Airport. For other car rental suppliers you may arrange for a taxi or shuttle.

I would just like to share that you may need to provide proof of your reservation to the shuttle driver when coming off a cruise. It was commented to me that those with their paper vouchers to hand were at an advantage over those needing to find details on their phones.
I looked up the address you listed for the Alamo shuttle in Tampa. That address is for the Westin Hotel. Is that correct?
Hi Laura,
Yes, that is correct, the location that serves the port is at the Westin Hotel with a free shuttle to the Port. You may have to call in advance of your return if you wanted to collect from there after your cruise.
Please let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks, Elle
